New Mexico is where I was born and raised
and is truly a "Land Of Enchantment".
New Mexico Flag
- The four seasons - spring, summer, fall
and winter.
- The day - sunrise, noon evening and
night.
- Life itself - childhood, youth, middle years
and old age.
All of these are bound by a circle of life and love, without a beginning or end.

Shiprock - "Rock With Wings"
Rock With Wings
Rising 1,700 feet above the
plain, Shiprock is famed in
the legends of the Navajo as
the "Rock With Wings"
holding that it was the great
bird that brought them from
the North.
I consider it a privilege to
have been able to get so
close to such a sacred place
of the Navajo people.

NASA and the DINEH:
About 1966 or so, a NASA team doing work for the Apollo moon mission took the astronauts
near Tuba City (Arizona). There the terrain of the Navajo Reservation looks very much like
the lunar surface. Among all the trucks and large vehicles were two large figures that were
dressed in full lunar spacesuits.
Nearby a Navajo sheep herder and his son were watching the strange creatures walk about,
occasionally being tended by other NASA personnel. The two Navajo people were noticed
and approached by the NASA personnel. Since the man did not know English, his son asked
him who the strange creatures were. The NASA people told them that they were just men that
were getting ready to go to the moon. The man became very excited and asked if he could
send a message to the moon with the astronauts.
Later, they tried a few more people on the reservation to translate and every person they asked would chuckle and then refuse to
translate. Finally, with cash in hand someone translated the message,
"Watch out for these guys, they come to take your land."

In answer to your question: Yes, New Mexico is
a state in the U.S.! It happens to be the 47th. I
currently reside in the Atlanta, Georgia area
and remember when the 1996 Olympics were
here. When a gentleman called from New
Mexico to order some of the Olympic venue
tickets he was told that he would have to "go
through his country's consulate"! He was
eventually able to obtain the tickets only after
having them mailed to an address in Arizona
where he had previously resided!
